actually speaking of which, can anyone recommend a good route from soulard to turtle playground? i'm a little hesitant hesitant to cut through tower grove... wuss yeah yeah i know. or is anyone else from soulard going?

Tower Grove through the Grove is perfectly safe if you are cautious and aware of your surroundings, (which you ought to be everywhere). I ride daily from Benton Park to the Loop, and that is the route I typically take. However, you can ride through Tower Grove Park into the Hill, and take Macklind to Oakland if you insist on being "safe."
