Lee, I had the most random dream last night. You were going to let me in your new club, but only if I passed a test. That test happened to be chugging an insane amount of alcohol. I was saved when a bunch of your friends showed up & helped me drink it all. Your girlfriend even showed up to give me chugging advice. lmao! Then you let me in your club & there was much rejoicing between my husband and I. -Lifetime Member 4 Life
blogs are made for bitching. its about riding not about which bar everyone goes to afterward. if you dont like it BIKE to another bar. you have the means. even the poop joker knows that mwahhahahaa
some people need something to bitch about in their lives. i however will chalk up another beautiful night riding with a great group of people on the mean deserted streets of STL. now back to my shitty day to day life which i have reason to bitch about.
wouldn't "jumping the shark" refer to a ridiculous stunt that defies reality and typical conventions in an effort to inject excitement into something that has gotten old and stale? if anything, going to handlebar time and time again would be like a typical happy days episode. "jumping the shark" would be if, say, the FBC ride started in wentzville instead of st louis. or if we rode skateboards instead of bikes... no, i don't think you understand what the phrase "jump the shark" refers to.
Jumping the Shark is that moment in time where something ceases to be as good as the original.
Remember when we had awesome rides and awesome parties under full moons? Last night's ride was fantastic. I love riding my bike, and I really enjoyed last night's route through our beautiful city. But ending at Handlebar (again) is predictable, repetitive, and lazy. I expect more from our beloved Fucking Bike Club.
Remember the Donut House? Remember partying around giant bonfires in the city? Remember Grant's Trail? Remember chilling in a parking lot with a fountain soda because you've biked so long, you need a break from turning pedals?
I remember rides like that, and they're cherished memories.
Every Full Moon Fiasco has the potential to be the greatest night of our lives. But if we're just going to end up at that dive bar/dance club/fine dining establishment (or whatever Handlebar is trying to be this week) every ride or two, we're wasting amazing opportunities.
I suggest you spend 5 minutes and plan a fun ride. Then we can do your ride and all have a great time.
I've planned so many that it sometimes feels like a burden to come up with something new ever lunar cycle. The Fucking Bike Club has a 90 month history of people stepping up to improve the club.
You can be one of the people who makes the FBC awesome, rather than someone who complains about shit you don't like on the internet.
the actual "shark jumping" was a specific moment in time, one crucial scene, that sums up the change in tone and quality of happy days. you can't end a ride at handlebar 99 times in a row, and then on the 100th time say "they jumped the shark". what is the "shark" that FBC jumped? if something is consistent over a given time (even consistently going downhill) there is no one specific scene or moment in time where a shark was jumped.
i'm not disagreeing about the repetitiveness of ending the ride at the same bar every time. i could take or leave it (i usually split off before then, anyway). i just don't think "jumping the shark" is a phrase that applies to this situation.
I enjoyed the route last night, and also the fact that the turnout was smaller than recent rides! I agree that Art Hill WAS awesome! Can we so soon forget the break for sprinkler cool off? Good route Cole :)
to me a bar is a bar, show up with the right people and you can have as good of a time as you make it. rather than complain about the bar choice, make your own fun. plus what a better place to end a bike ride than a bicycle themed bar?
I missed the fucking bike! Im not bitching or snitching/ Just in an odd position Now perk up and listen Their is a certain disposition but dare rally my rhythmic inquisition
I say let me guide you I'm like mid 20s and kinda cute
Intense convo. over definitions of jumping the shark. f-ing hipsters just ride. "actually i just googled it and it said this!!!" palm to face. Cheers to the August 02, 2012 8:05 PM comment and August 02, 2012 8:33 PM. Up with baby making down with faking!JUUSSSTTTT RIIDDDEEE
As my grandma never said, "Haters are going to hate." What I have always understood about this AWESOME club is the number one rule is DON'T BE A JERK. I love this club and have come into it fairly recently (Fiasco 67 or 69, can't quite remember) and have always loved the good times happening for good time loving people.
I guess what I mean is who GAF where we end up as long as we are a group of people who like riding bikes and drinking beer (or what have you.)
Also I loved the fact that we ended at Handlebar to hear what sweet, sweet tracks my brother Mark was laying down. If you wish that we would end at a pool I suggest you figure out what pool will house 200+ fun loving people at one in the morning and bring it up to someone. It is really easy to complain on the internet... in fact, I'm doing it right now!!!!!!! Great route. Great Ride. Stopping at that school to run thru sprinklers was awesome.
Yeah excellent route. And to that dude who dropped an empty can on the road around about mid-town, shame on you. The FBC way is to smash empties on your forehead and stuff em in your pants. Didn't you learn anything at orientation?
Hey Lee - you rule. Thanks for all your efforts with the FBC. Every month it brings many people much joy and a renewed appreciation for bikes and our great city.
Great time seeing everyone last week! I had a great time, saw new things, went new places, met new friends, and best of all, rode my bike!
If you'd like more of the same, join Griffin Delivery for a new kind of race - a PlasterCat! Although I can't promise FBC, fun will definitely be on the bill!
Check it out on the facebooks: http://on.fb.me/NkzqKZ
if lance armstrong hadn't discovered the moon someone else would have eventually. don't see what the big deal is. plus it's way easier to ride your bike on the moon because there is less gravity. big deal. st louis would be so much easier to bike with 1/4 of the gravity...
Neil Armstrong outer space blue moon bike ride! It sounds great, you should plan it! Seriously, you could plan a ride in moon suits and find drink specials on blue moon, or pop's blue moon near the Hill. I will be out of town, but I know one lifetimer for life fearless leader would be more than happy to announce you as leader of the ride! You even get to make your own spoke cards! How fun is that?!
I doubt we'll be crashing the Moonlight Ramble this weekend since they postponed it until Sept. 15, which happens to be during the new moon. ha! Moonlight Ramble without a moon--Silly if you ask me...
soooo yeah is there an OFFICIAL word on what day/time this ride is? i'd feel more comfortable if there were a post telling me what to do. i need structure and boundaries.
will be there, rain permitting. may or may not wear my jumpsuit.
Hey if you guys are looking to purchase a new bike check out http://purefixcycles.com/ I just started working on them and Ive been going to FBC for the past two years. I am the rep in the STL region. check out the site and next FBC I will be handing out stickers and lookbooks.

Handlebar? Again? The FBC has really jumped the shark.
If every other ride is gonna end at Handlebar, I'm glad this shit is ending after Full Moon Fiasco #100.
I didn't hang around for the handlebar, but I did enjoy the route downtown
It's really easy to bitch

Looking forward to BLUE MOON
The Donut House is closed Dirk
I SUGGEST WE END AT A POOL OR MAYBE SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN THE HANDLE BAR OR THE GROVE ITS GETTING BORINGS SAME PLACE ALL THE TIME
You know what, we tried to go somewhere better, but that place was closed.

Why wasn't the ride on the night of the full moon, Aug. 2nd?

How about we end at church and have a time of worship an prayer
Can I suggest a R.I.P. lance Armstrong ride. I mean the guy discovered the moon. It only seems right that we honor him with a ride
^^^ like
Rain, Rain, stay away, the FBC wants to get out and play!
I agree we should dedicate the next ride in memory of neil armstrong
SPACE RIDE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X80Gd80X40s
Moonlight Ramble crashing? or staying true to the big olde moon
if lance armstrong hadn't discovered the moon someone else would have eventually. don't see what the big deal is. plus it's way easier to ride your bike on the moon because there is less gravity. big deal. st louis would be so much easier to bike with 1/4 of the gravity...

I only know of one Lifetime Member for Life that is capable of riding their bike to the Moon...
oooh, i like me some pop's blue moon...
I checked the farmers Almanac and the full moon is friday at 10am...so Im confused, will the ride be thursday night or friday night? Cheers
the ride is friday, 10am sharp!!
Two rides, back to back, why the hell not!
Thinking of crashing this bitch!
Serious rain predicted Friday. A raincoat ride?
Blue moon coats and space martinis-mmm cool!
I doubt we'll be crashing the Moonlight Ramble this weekend since they postponed it until Sept. 15, which happens to be during the new moon. ha! Moonlight Ramble without a moon--Silly if you ask me...
Moonlight ramble is cancelled
U mean the rides at 11 pm not 10 am friday
so the ride tonight is going rain or shine, i mean rain?
Always.
soooo yeah is there an OFFICIAL word on what day/time this ride is? i'd feel more comfortable if there were a post telling me what to do. i need structure and boundaries.
will be there, rain permitting. may or may not wear my jumpsuit.
Biggest concern will be visibility, if cars can't see us it's not safe to ride, but if the day stays as it has we'll he golden!
The rides at 11pm tonight(fri 8/31) RAIN OR SHINE. We need to welcome Isaac as a LTM4L cuz he will be sticking around for the ride
Poop on this weather!
I say we ride like every full moon. You are more than welcome to stay home if you are a fair weather rider.
I say.... Hahahahahaha we do rude EVERY FULL MOON. I say. Hahahaha
We are doing this this evening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpraJYnbVtE
Bring your wet gear. We're gonna get wet and then get wetter!
Wetter is better!
The way I see it. If there's a full moon there's a group willing to brace whatever cones and still have a good time.
This is the only way some of you take baths isn't it? See you at the handle bar.
Still picking grass clippings out of my ass
Always where your helmet and bicycle light and a short mini dress or skirt with no panties on
Pics^^^^^
