Slightly Unusual

Oftentimes the Full Moon Fiasco in May is Prom. This year it is not.

If you can peel yourself away from Cherokee Street on Saturday May 5th, join your Fucking Bike Club for Full Moon Fiasco #87.  Meet at Turtle Park around 10:30pm the ride leaves at 11:00pm sharp.

This ride is seeking someone to plan it. If you think you are up to the task, and have an idea for a fun ride, say so in the comments or click on the "email the FBC" button on the right.

I have an "idea" for a ride- it involves riding on il-3 on the shoulder for a minute, and one surveillance camera? So not for the faint of heart. It's an industrial park in an old military base? It has a very nicely paved straight away? Places to explore? Mreh, maybe not appropriate https://shop.ragbrai.com/product.php?productid=17016&cat=297&page=1

In the state of Missouri, bikes *are* legally allowed on the highway.

I've alwaysalwaysalwaysalwaysalways wanted to use this right, even if just for the distance of ONE exit (hop on, ride to the next offramp, hop back off), but I'd never do it alone and nobody else will do it with me :(

Safety in numbers~?

Overall, an amazing experience.

But why did we stop after only 15 minutes on Jamieson? Was that necessary? And what's with the d-bags who like to ridicule people? REAL BRO!!!

The guy that got arrested did have it coming, what a dipshit. His girlfriend frightened me. She is scary lookin. And way to lead us to the Arch with no plan afterwards. Good thinking!!!

The 'super' moon was disappointing, but the weather was great, so all in all, a good ride. There may have been no real route or plan, but by the time I got back to my car, I had tracked over 20 miles, so that's a good ride. Who doesn't love riding a bike at night whilst drinking Miller High Life?!? :)

I helped two people out with flat tires and lost the roaming wave that is today's, and then rode home, which was cool. While there were people that showed concern, 90% rode past.

Being a douchebag is not why I want to hang out with the fbc. I can do plenty of that on my own time.

The public will learn to love you when you put an electric fence around all three rings (pros, rookies, first timers) as the carnival passes by

People that know how to party hard and ride smart... The ones that remember to bring a tube for themselves, and a friend... But still find the time to ride straight thru shattered car glass at 10 o'clock in the afternoon, drunk on some bottle with a label written in Turkish and a PBR.

People that put others first.

Also, consider this... Which is worse, the douchebag, or not calling out the douchebag for being a douchebag?

I implore you, don't be a part of the douchebag network. Yes they are "everywhere" , But we don't want them too mingle with each other.

This fbc was really similar to almost all fbc rides, except it went faster, and didn't end in a bar. Whoever thinks that dropping off at the arch is an oddity, a lot rides have no final destination. There was a route, which I believe was supposed to follow the southern city limits. Pretty sure it is commonplace in the fbc for people to pull dick moves, ride unsafely, and not help others with the fix of flats. that is the fbc. Not for kids. It was a good ride, and good proof that you really can't fuck with it too bad. it will stay what it is as long the world doesn't end too soon.

If you had trouble keeping up with the tall bike with a 20" front wheel, sorry. If you got a flat and had to go home, shit happens. We probably stopped on jamesion to fill our booze. The arch was a great spot to end it. Its fucking st. louis, why not at the arch? Still the Greatest Club In The World. Even the people that went to jail and smashed their faces had a good time. There should be no hostility over riding bicycles. Its supposed to be fun.

If you were hanging out in the opposite lanes of traffic when we stopped on Jamieson at Lindenwood Park, get out of the road and into the park next time! I know you think you're safe in the mob of bikers, but I assure you that the smallest car would have no problem mowing you all down. Let's try to use some common sense when we go biking on full moons.

Also, if your bike is from the 1980's, you should take it to the nearest bike shop and replace the 1980's tubes and tires that originally came on the bike. Some of us are happy to help someone with a flat, but help yourself first by visiting a bike shop before the next ride. Again, let's use some common sense. New, modern tubes and tires work much better than the original set of dry rotted tires on your 1985 Schwinn Paramount.

Agreed, why do folks just stay in the street when we stop? Seems as though they are totally oblivious. Speaking of oblivious, captain safety should be banned from fbc rides. This kid is a rel shit-heel, we should duct tape him to a tree before we go on the next ride. Dude doesn't deserve the term "safety". From now on I suggest "captain shitheel". I saw him try to get hit by making a right turn onto choteau from broadway, around the LEFT side of an suv, just after the light turned green. Hey retard, a girl was hitand killed there last week. Show a modicum of decency you effin douche. Seriously, I know that the fbc is not an exclusive club, but lets exclude this asshole before he gets us on the news. So bring some duct tape next month and lets tape this kid to a tree so he can't ruin the ride.

I'm taking over the FBC after Full Moon Fiasco #100. There will be several changes once Lee retires.

First, you will have to fill out an application if you'd like to participate in Full Moon Fiascos. A selection committee will determine whether or not you get to become of member of The Fucking Bike Club 2.0.

Second, each ride will leave from a new, secret location to prevent nonmembers from crashing the club's events.

Third, members of the new club will be encouraged to slash the tires and quickly abandon any uninvited rider that joins the group.

Fourth, club members will be subjected to a yearly review to assess the qualities that each member brings to the group. Members that are deemed to not be bringing enough quality assets to The Fucking Bike Club 2.0 will have their membership revoked.

Please prepare yourself for these inevitable changes.

Please be aware that many of you will not make the cut for The Fucking Bike Club 2.0.

Signed,

Your Future Leader

One thing that this gathering of people does is remind people that there are cyclists out there in great numbers. I want St. Louis drivers to know how many people ride bikes in this city. I've been hit by cars twice in since December. I was obeying all traffic laws and had more than lights than most on my bike. Both times were because the driver didn't see me. I would rather have a driver pass me and scream for me to get off the road because they hate cyclists than the person that hits me because they have no idea that I'm there. Most of these people would have been drinking in small groups, probably riding bikes. At least they had safety in numbers. There are always gonna be people that stand out and make a group look worse than it is. The man that climbed the rail in front of the arch made a statement to his friends (that told him not to do it it). His statement was " I am a grown adult and I am responsible for my own actions" Point some rides are a little more rambunctious than others but all in all most people have a good time and no real harm was done due to the FBC. We raise awareness that there really are that many people on bikes on a Saturday night. So please go to the mayor, but talk to him about our city's education issues or how you would like to get involved in community agriculture to help feed your neighbors.

Captain Safety is a problem. But Once the weather gets nice, the group swells with people that are problems. For every awesome Lifetime Member for Life, there is a jackass Doing everything the FBC doesn't stand for.

It's a shame we're such an inclusive group because a bunch of people should've been barred from coming back a long time ago.

I don't know what the solution is, but I'm sure that the more run ins with law enforcement that result in pairs of handcuffs coming out will only make the city police less likely to cut our group any slack in the future. And that's a shame because they've been pretty lenient with our group in the past.

Ps-Props to the dick that got arrested. You really have to be an asshole to get a city cop riled up enough to give a fuck drag someone to the station. Fuck you and your willingness to be a dumbass on our Full Moon Fiasco. Don't bother coming back. You won't be missed.
