Dedicated to a Great St. Louisan

The Fucking Bike Club wouldn't be what it is without Turtle Park.  It's the perfect meet-up spot and one of those places where it's hard to have a bad time. We can all thank Bob Cassilly for that. Let's thank him with Full Moon Fiasco #80.

Ride your most interesting or modified bicycle and be ready to ride in the spirit of Bob. Meet at Turtle Park Tuesday, October 11th around 10:30pm, the ride leaves at 11 o'clock sharp.

See you there.

Those protests aren't stupid, but we are about moving around not staying still. If you wanna go downtown, go there on your own time. Or after the ride.

Fuck your apathy. A lot of those protesters are good people, out for a good reason... Inertia is stupid.... But you're right, it has NOTHING to do with the FBC. The FBC is STRICTLY fun. No politics allowed, and that's cool too.
HOWEVER, a lot of the protests are bike-related, so if you DO give a shit about anything, it might be fun for a few of you to give it a whirl.

I'll be heading to OCCUPY! Who's with me!?

We need to show our support for real freedom, real people, real lives, with a desire not to have their lives dictated by money hungry corporations. If there's one thing FBCers know, it's that money does NOT deliver well-being. Yet our culture preaches nothing but "chase money." We need a government worried about PEOPLE, not money. We can do better than our current civil organization.

As with the FBC, these protests have no political affiliation.

Let's at least roll by and give 'em a ring o' the bells :)

Dear Craig,

I'm a little confused about theyour argument. How do you bring up government then say it's not political? Once something involves the government .. It's political.

October 10, 2011 9:55 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hey Anonymous...

I said there's no "political affiliation." no party is associated with the protests.

But yes, when you're talking about changing our society, government included, there would have to be a political element. So, I agree with you.

But as I see it, the protests are about the people. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion, and it'd be a fun spot for the FBC to roll by...

Thoughts?

Cheers brothers and sisters!

Craig .. Maybe no party .. But a certain political viewpoint which not everyone might agree. There is no argument that everyone wants to have fun. Politics are never fun for everyone.

protesting the too big to fail mentality and the death of real democracy and capitalism to a system of plutocracy and crony capitalism is something we should all be worried about. capitalism is not the problem. we don't have it any more is the problem. we're told we are a democracy and capitalist, and some people buy it. but we just aren't. and i think we should at least roll by and circle them. sign of respect for people being out there. i am a libertarian btw. i think they all gotta go, but that's just me. :) the occupy people don't have all the answers but i applaud them and the tea party for just saying fuck the current system which is flat out broken.

LETS OCCUPY TONITE! We should ride all over downtown passing Keiner plaza every so often, stopping to mingle with the protesters, who after all, are one and the same as us. We are the 99%

Anonymous Anonymous said...

hey man it's probably all about a tribute to bob c tonight. not much political about that. but i am in for a bike occupy st. louis ride. if somebody really wants to get freaky, i think there is a cardinals game this weekend. we should circle the stadium before/during/after the game? follow all the traffic laws, but just freaking clog up the streets? that would make the news. all the national media be blocked in by us. lol hehehe can you imagine what a couple hundred bikes could do to downtown traffic during a playoff game? i'd hate to rain on the cardinals game and fans tho, but maybe during the game? do a one hour circle the stadium ride at 8-9pm and then retire to paddy o's to have a beer? bet it make the national news.

I'm sure that there are many FBC Lifetime Members For Life that support and identify with the Occupy St. Louis protesters. If you are one of those people (I am), get off your ass and go down there!

But don't wait for the FBC to take you, because its not going to happen. This club doesn't align itself with political causes, unless you consider having fun political-- cuz we're all about that shit!

well if it were me, i'd just make the call and say on friday night the cards are at the stadium. chestnut, broadway, gratiot and 7th would circle the stadium and keiner plaza and make a nice impromptu bike parade. 8-9 pm might make a nice time to make some noise and support the cause. besides at 9 we could stop in paddy o's and watch the end of the game. but that's just me. wear red, bring noisemakers and raise some hell?

Dear Peanut Brain

Are you serious .. Block in the stadium!? Why the heck do so many people think we need to fuck with people. Isn't it a lot more fun when bystanders cheer us on and ask what we are doing. Make a note tonight of the faces of people watching us .. I love the smiles we create.

Thanks for sharing your internal monologue of second guessing yourself. I suggest you don't type your internal thoughts.

P.S. Lee, if you ever run for president .. I'm voting for you.

I'm still a little confused with this whole follow the leader concept. You are the leader and pick the route. I get that. But as we ride, should I stay behind you? I know that I don't know where I am going and only you do, but what if I end up in front of you? This concept blows my mind every month. Also, I like riding really fast and racing.

October 11, 2011 3:22 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

If youre ahead of the pack then youre going too fast...

October 11, 2011 3:30 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

that's why i said ride from 8-9 pm. have you ever been outside the stadium during a game? it's pretty mellow. it wouldn't fuck with anyone, but it would be a cool site to see, and probably get some exposure. if there were a couple hundred bikes down there i bet it'd make national news. but yeah fuck it, be easier to stay at home and sit on the couch.

If you end up in the front, ride to the back, then back to the front and so forth untill your boredom is diminished. Thats what I do sometimes, or bring a funky bike that dont go fast.

Would it be possible to incorporate that hill in Forest Park that is covered with potholes into every Full Moon Fiasco (Government Drive)?

The Natural Selection that takes place between people that know how to avoid potholes and those that don't is extremely entertaining.

It seems like we immediately cut 50 people out of the ride with flats by making the turn down that hill.
