The Deal

This Saturday, June 30th the moon will be full and the FBC will be riding.

This month is NOT the Underwear Pool Party of Destiny. I would never tell you not to go for a bike ride in your underwear, but if you do show up in your unmentionables you may be the only one.

Meet at Turtle Park before 11:00pm, interesting bikes encouraged.

That sounds like a fucking blast! Greetings from the dirty south! I'm a member of the David Hasselhoff 5 MTB club outta Cape Girardeau. Although, I don't ride a mountain bike. Regardless, it appears we share some of the same ideals. If you guys like hills and humidity, c'mon down! And if you have a bike polo group, let us know! We don't quite follow the official rules but... it's close enough.

Who was that vested traffic guy?

what happened to the camp party?

why did my firefighter friend call me the next morning and accuse me of starting another fire downtown?

a fiasco that lived up to its name for sure?

Captain Safety actually increased the amount of down time and accidents during a Fiasco by 42%. His bright vest blinded several motorist, causing 18 near collisions. I would suggest that the captain retire the vest and invest in a trafic wand.
Oh yeah the catain was not invited to the pary yet somehow picked it up on a police scanners and made it anyway. Nerd alert is indicating new levels.

Be nice to "Captain Safety" for most likely he holds your lives in his hands. One little gesture from his hand of authority could send traffic directly into the heart of any future FBC ride. He's out there on the street gaining credibility and respect with late night drunkards, hookers, crackheads and deadend deadbeats. There's no telling what kind of power he will ultimately wield.

Hey FBC... my bike got stolen from outside my UCity apartment last night.

The bike is a BLACK Jamis Explorer 18 speed mountain bike with grip shift and a silver SR Suntour shock front fork. The bike has a silver plastic headlamp tied to the front bars and a triangular shaped rear hazard light attached to the seatpost. It has a blue City of Columbus (OH) bike registration sticker on the front of the seatpost and when stolen had a FBC Fiasco 27 Spoke Card in the front wheel.

I AM OFFERING A $100 REWARD to whoever recovers it. So if you see someone riding it throw some bows, drop his or her ass to the curb and grab the bike.

any help is appreciated...
thanks!
andrew

I was the dude in the red shirt on flag day if you could use a blurry flic of the bike:

OK, quick recap.
* about 100 fools and 1 captain of safety met at turtle park, so 101 is my count.
* Went to Arena Liquors.
* Went through forest park.
* In forest park a loop of a traffic triangle was attempted, half went one direction, half the other. The attempt failed.
* North on skinker
* then a loop of the delmar loop with a lot of yelling and the evil eye from delmar's finest.
* north on skinker, FLAT where skinker turns into Kienlen, half of the pack continues on Kienlen, then realizing the FLAT, waits at the intersection of MLK and Kienlen making friends with the Wellston Police.
* Right on Dr. Martin Luther King
* first mile with Wellston police escort.
* FLAT FLAT FLAT (at least it felt that way.)
* local hooligan throws rock at FBC member
* Punches were thrown between two FBC members, only one in spandex.
* MLK veers right wherupon captain safety goes straight through the peloton just missing yours truly.
* we arrive at a party that was a bust.
* some FBC member arrives at the destination after the rest of the group with a car and a truck chasing him, they are yelling at him, and he at them. Someone in the car throws a beer at the kid, it ricochets off his frame and simultaneously hits and drenches my right leg.
* I and my friends elect to go home at this juncture.
* our ride home was uneventful, how was yours?

That is all I know.

who was the guy in spandex anyhow? he kept shouting curses at cars that honked - some of whom were friendly and then he shouted at people on the sidewalk on MLK who were most definately not a threat.

too much caffine? testosterone? was it roid rage?

The spandex clad douche bag is hated by many in the cycling community, hence the punches being thrown in his direction. During the ride on Saturday, he threatened to pull the front break lever of another rider. Joke or no, that shit isn't funny, especially when your riding in a mob of people. The fight could have been avoided had he put about 50 other riders between himself and the other party, as he was asked repeatedly to do. Instead, he kept ragging on and couldn't leave well enough along.
He normally rolls with another shit talker who likes to rag on every cyclist's choice of wheels, whether your rolling fixed, single speed, full suspension, etc. He and his pack definitely have nothing positive to bring to the cycling community. The FBC and the STL would be better off if he crawled back under the rock from whence he came.

I am the stlbiking community. Just as you are.

I was yelling encouraging things to strangers, such as, "please have sex with me."

I diffused the fight. Absolutely no punches were thrown. I don't believe in meaningless violence. I didn't want this guy to walk around pissed off for no reason, and I'm pretty sure I accomplished this task. We shook hands and agreed to a truce.

I've been riding so long, the style of bikes people choose to ride just cracks me up a little. Just fucking ride. It's just good natured ribbing. Believe me, I've ridden it all and I don't really care what you ride.

I get the feeling I'm being trolled. For that, I salute you.
