st. louis blues hockey

so i went to a st. louis blues hockey game last night (yes, it is true, st. louis still has a hockey team). it was my first live professional hockey game in 8 years, and it was as sweet as i remember it. after 2 periods of play it was tied 2-2. during the whole third period i was hoping that the score would stayed tied because the NHL has now instituted a shoot-out rule. the rule states that if the game is tied after three periods of play one overtime period of 5 minutes will be played, and if the score is still tied after overtime a shoot-out will occur. the blues pulled out the win in the shoot out, and yes, it was very exciting.
why am i bringing this up in the FBC blog you ask: well i think that it is high time that the shoot-out become more prevalent in everyday life. and what this means is we (as members of the FBC) need to figure out how we can create some sort of event on bicycles that involves a shoot-out. at first i was thinking of reviving the weekly bike polo game (which will happen as soon as it stays light out longer, or some one can find a playground, tennis court, etc... that has lights that we can turn on), but polo is not the answer to our shoot-out question because there are no goalies in polo, so that wont work. so please FBCer's i am asking you to rack your brains, we need to incorporate shoot-outs into a future rides and we need to figure out how. if you have any ideas post a comment or email me directly.
also i have stickers, FULL MOON FIASCO stickers to be exact, so come by the shop if you want a few, and if you can contribute to the sticker fund that would be greatly appriciated, becuase without your financal help i cannot make anymore.
some reminders: the first annual mound-city cyclocross race is sunday february 12 at 4pm and the PBR sponsered after party is at 8pm that evening at the hi-pointe. i have a shit-ton of flyers that need to be distributedso please email or post a comment if you want to pass some out.
full moon fiasco 10 is monday february 13 at 11pm at the hi-pointe cafe, meet at 10 or 10:30 for pre-ride libations.
bye bye

Have one person track stand in front of a goal and another skid out her/his back tire to shoot something at the goal. If the track stander loses her/his balance, it's a goal! It's just a thought...but I'm sure some people (like me) can't track stand or skid out like that very well so not everyone would be able to participate.

Hey FBCerz,

was just surfing missouri law to figure out what the hell was up with the parks guy that yelled at us on the last ride.

As I figure it, he was completely in the wrong and a call to the parks department confirmed this. as long as you don't go on the grass and are using a right of way (read street)- no security guard can do shit - NOR can an actual cop, except stop you and notice the beer can in your cage....

which brings me to observation #2
missouri law only creates rights and responsibilities for bikers under section 304 of the traffic laws. this does not include drinking while biking. I'm no attorney...oh wait, yes I am, so I don't think that drinking and biking is illegal.

Missouri state law doesn't create ANY crimes for bikes. under 307.193 the max penatly for conviction of an "infraction" is $25. It specifically states that transgressors are not guilty of a crime.

This looks pretty comprehensive. Which would mean of course BUI and BWI are not illegal in missouri.

Which is nice. I'm not sure about municipal law. Will update as I procrastinate. Also, not sure about St. Louis' public intoxication statutes if any and open container statutes if any that could apply. As we all know, MO makes it legal for open containers except for the driver. Which is nice too.

the bad news/other shoe drops

section 14.05.010 of st. louis city code is a super broad proscription versus ALMOST ANY public drinking. This is one that is almost never enforced - but could be. Silver lining??? all working people may drink near there place of business near meal hours on the street as long as they aren't loud or destructive! yeah! as can picnicers in public parks...

i'd third that, but i guess it doesn't really matter at this point. this was really interesting to me because a few days before the ride while out on a leisurely 1AM ride with moseby, we were yelled at for the same thing by the same guy at the exact same spot. he even stoppped us and took 15-20 minutes to say the same damn thing over and over and over. it was pointless and retarded and i was 99% sure we hadn't done anything wrong. anyway. he pointed out that we didn't have reflectors or helmets and that made it illegal. also noted was how he couldn't even really see us. i wanted to point out that it was kinda the idea... if he hadn't, we wouldn't have had to deal with his useless speech. oh well.
