First! Thurs. Nov. 12th King Khan and BBQ Show is playing at Off Broadway. They are a garage rockish style band with a touch of soul. They are definitely a band well approved by the fbc. If this show is of poor attendance then we will thus be continuing the conundrum of super rad bands leap frogging over st louis because they feel its not worth there time. King Khan and BBQ will surely get your feet movin' and your tushy shakin'. The price is a little steep at $12, but you will not regret it. There are ways to sneak in, but its your loss if you get caught. Show doors are at 7 or 8. I'll be there getting wild. So should you. Here is a link----

Second, Wed. Dec 2nd will be the Trail-Er-Ride. Everyone is encouraged to hitch up a trailer of some kind to there bikes. There are some very exciting ideas floating around already, some of which are actually in the works. Don't have a trailer you say, no problem. You are still invited.Just bring some spirit and maybe some holiday bike decoration. Heads up though, this will be a longer ride, but fun none the less.

Blood and Donuts... with bonus party bar pics

A few of us stopped at the liquor store on the way to turtle park and we ran into this guy. His name is Althotas and his is from the North.
We kind of hit it off just shooting the shit in front of Arena liquors and asked him if wanted to join us on a bike ride.

He agreed as long as he could spit pigs blood in Cole's face.

With all formalities out of the way we headed on to Turtle Park.

From there it was a scenic tour of the soon to be opened eastern section of the highway 40 reconstruction. It was hard not to enjoy in such beautiful weather. Like a Norwegian summer night!

We capped the night off with some of the most delicious donuts in St. Louis from our friends at the Donut House. What a magical night!

Fair Warning

Sunday October 4th is a full moon, and as per usual The Fucking Bike club will be going for a bike ride. You are welcome to come along, but only on one condition... Everyone who attends must ride a bike with 20" wheels or smaller. To do otherwise ensures brutal and sustained mocking for the entire night, not unlike the kind of shit talking that can usually be found in the comments section of this blog.

What's that you say? You don't have a bike with small wheels? Ask around, I'm be shocked if someone you know didn't have one you could borrow. If worse comes to worse, kids bikes only cost a few dollars at the thrift store. A few dollars is a pittance compared to the amount of fun you are gonna have on the 4th cruising the moonlight streets of St. louis with a bunch of Yahoos on kids bikes.

So join us, Sunday October 4th for Full Moon Fiasco #55: Just A Little Bike Ride. Meet at Turtle Park around 10:30 the ride leaves at 11:00pm sharp.

An Open Letter To All Lifetime Members For Life

I’ll start this by saying that I love the FBC. I do. My first ride was 10/06 and I’ve been riding when I can ever since. I just wanted to say that last night was the first time that I’ve gone home from an FBC full moon fiasco without the feeling of being a part of something great due to the actions of several folks. Please let me make it clear that the organizers do a phenomenal job of keeping things loose and letting the group police themselves. I understand that when you get THAT many people together there are bound to be a couple of jerks – hey it takes all kinds! – but that tribe appears to be growing in number and when their actions jeopardize the fun, safety, and potentially the future of the group I think something needs to be said.

FBC has grown to be massive. Huge. But we aren’t the only people on the road and in the interest of keeping the peace between motorists and cyclists (FBC or otherwise) shouldn’t act like it. Although many people were reminded over and over (and over) again to stay in one lane, I watched as cars would creep along trying to pass the group and riders would just stay dead center in the left lane as if there wasn’t a car there at all. MO state law says a group of cyclists can legally take A lane. One lane. The one on the right. It’s pretty generous of them and not that hard to do on our part.

Overheard: “I actually like pissing cars off.” Wow. Wrong attitude. You are a jerk. Take it somewhere else.

When we get to a landing spot PLEASE pick up your trash. I watched a guy set his beer can on the ground, stomp on it and walk away from it. *boggle* Please have some respect not only for our fine city, but for the people that don’t want to see the FBC get a bad wrap for stuff like that and take the time to pick up after you. A couple of kind souls took the time to clean up your mess.

That’s not to say everyone sucks. It is still awesome and uplifting to see the majority of folks help out with a flat, warn about potholes, grates and traffic, and generally look out for each other (which reminds me: I really hope the fellow that bonked his head after the parked-car crash is alright). It’s that consideration and brother/sisterhood that makes the FBC great, something to keep coming back to and something to be proud to be a part of.

Please just practice Common Sense and Common Courtesy. Remember that we are all in this together together; geared, fixed, single speed, on foot or motorized. Your actions help shape the way that St. Louisans view cyclists of all kinds so please do your part to keep it friendly and safe. Take care of one another, be respectful, HAVE FUN and let’s have another 51 great full moon fiascos.

How Much Fun Can You Handle?

Its that time of year. Time for the first FBC approved race of the summertime. This one came from the fun-adled mind of the one and only Peat Henry. If you don't know who he is, you must be new in town.

Only Peat knows the exact format of the the race but I can tell you this much for sure, like all FBC sponsored races the point is not to prove how bad ass you are, it's to see how much fun you can have. Ride any bike you want, ride fast or ride slow, carry a pizza and a boombox with you or don't. Just meet us at the Turtle Park on Oakland Ave, Saturday June 6th. Sign ups start at 1pm the race starts at 2:00. A five dollar entry fee goes to charity. See you there.

Just think, at 9:45pm I thought prom wasn't gonna happen at all. We don't call these rides Fiascos for nothing.

Three cheers to Stephen for setting everything up, and then making it happen anyway when the dude he set everything up with forgot all about it.

And thanks to all 319 FBC Lifetime Members For Life who came out and had fun.

And to the 2 Lifetime Members For Life who decided to leave their bikes unlocked on Manchester at 3am, John and I stole them to prevent them from getting really stolen. You better start taking better care of your bikes, or you won't have anything to ride for next month.

Our Golden Anniversary

Prom is on! Please join the Fucking Bike Club for our 50th Full Moon Fiasco on Saturday May 9th 2009. In order to give us plenty of dancing time we will be starting early. Pick up your date and enjoy a nice dinner before meeting at Turtle Park around 7:30pm the ride leaves at 8:00pm sharp. Formal attire is required.

Its time to figure out a location for prom. The big day is Saturday May 9th and we would need the venue from 9 or 10pm until close. There also needs to be a dance floor and a PA system. Does anybody have a line on a venue that could fit 150 people and that we could get for free? Tell them we are a thirsty bunch and they will make plenty of dough at the bar.

If not, I've got a list of VFW halls and Cultural Societies to call. They will cost a few hundred dollars to rent, so we will have to charge admission to prom. Obviously free is better, so if you can hook up a place for free let us know in the comments or use "contact the FBC" to send us an email.

The Skatium is not an option.

Find your self a bitchin Aprilween costume and join your fellow FBC Lifetime Members For Life at Turtle Park on Thursday April 9th around 10pm. The ride leaves at 11pm sharp.

It's understood that it would be a huge mistake to show up for this ride without sweet costume, right? I hope so.

Saturday February 28th 2009, The Fucking Bike Club presents, The Third Annual Keg Party On Wheels: Cold Ride to Somewhere Other Than Fast Eddies.

For the third winter in a row the FBC will be towing a keg to Alton Illinois. Where we will end up is anyones guess. The fun is in the getting there, you know? How we will get home is also anyones guess. If you don't feel like riding home after dark, possibly by yourself, you need to line up your own ride. All bets are off once we reach Alton and pay some leathery bartender to show the goods.

Meet at Turtle Park before 11:00am on Saturday morning. The ride is leaving at 11am sharp.
