Full Moon Fiasco #89 is taking place on Tuesday, July 3rd 2012. It will be some sort of bike ride. Meet at the park at 10:30pm the ride leaves at 11:00pm sharp.
See you there!
-Lee
My friends and I are with JumpinJoey! What should riders wear (or not wear)??? And we've heard that there has been swimming in the past. What gives, Lee? Inquiring minds (and bodies) want to know!
Yes, yes, yes!! Pool party of destiny, pretty pretty please! Fountain hopping and nearly nude attire. This is an excellent hot-as-balls summer ride idea.
IF for some reason this is not pool party of destiny, and even if it is, please note that Saturday JULY 28 is the World Naked bike ride. So nearly nude or even nude non-attired fun can be had then. ride departs 8 p.m. sharp from south grand.
If'n you wanna party at PPHQ, click muh name for details. BYO whatever (includin' a buck or two for the tourin' band [not required, just a nice thing to do]).
Can we start joking about poop again? THeres an appartment complex just east of grand and lindell that has a pool thats pretty easy to get into. Pumpkins rock!
Who is the knucklehead that said leave your fireworks at home? Fireworks are encouraged on every FBC ride, and doubly so on the eve of independence day. Now go snort some black powder, or stir it in your favorite cocktail... whatever you gotta do to get your head straight on this thing.
It is clear to me it is time for us to part ways. It's me, not you. I have reached my threshold for bitching and rule making. The firework thing was the last straw. I truly hope the remaining rides are all great. Just like a soul mate, I want nothing but the best for you, but It would seem best for both of us if we go our separate ways. I will always remember our time together. Take care of yourself.
I'm wearing my swimsuit under my clothes and hoping for the best. I don't mind rules, if, of course, they make sense. And seeing as it has been hot and dry and everything is just about a hair from catching fire, it seems like fireworks are not the best idea -- which is why various fireworks displays across the city have been cancelled.
I feel like that ride was a bit much for some of the more casual riders. It ended up being more than 20 miles if you needed to get back to turtle park at the end. The ride itself wasn't the bad part, the only thing is that it basically ended (ending being at Sister Marie Charles Park) around 9 miles away from the start. I ended up having a friend who was pretty much done at tower grove park on the way back, so I got someone to wait with him while I rode to the vehicle at turtle park.
Keeping the end somewhere within 5 miles of the start is more considerate.
Next ride, let's all wear union jack shirts, ride queer hipster bicyles, and run our mouths. We won't have any idea how close we are to getting our asses kicked. Ha.
was that some kind of cruel joke last night? holy shit!!! i feel like we did 1.75 FBCs worth of riding with zero breaks. we had a first timer with us, hopefully he wasn't scared off... and c'mon this isn't team armstrong, it's FBC so yeah, some of us can ride 20-30 miles in a sitting but since it's an open group for anyone to join it shouldn't be expected. that being said... yeah it's always a risk with FBC. one thing i learned a long time ago is to always bring cab money...!
It's understandable that some people may be a little disgruntled about the route last night, but there are a few things to be considered-1)Trying to please about 200 people every month (and more) is going to be nearly impossible. 2)It's got to be a lot of work and very time consuming to make plans and necessary arrangements for this amount of people. 3)This is a BIKE club, says so right in the name-you may want to expect that it involves alot of,um,biking. I don't run this club, and share a few of opinions about it myself-just trying to be objective. Would people still be complaining about fireworks, routes, and people they don't get along with (in a sea of people-it's easy to avoid certain individuals anyway) if we didn't have the option every full moon anymore? No,we would all be trying to figure out a way to start the club up again-and there would still be whiners no matter what we did.
Last night's ride was awesome! Best way to start the 4th of July! One suggestion though: if the destination is going to be so far away from the beginning, it would be nice if the destination was posted on the blog so that people can figure out in advance what route they're taking home.
It's a Full Moon Fiasco. Dragging a bunch of weak bike riders around the city without rest stops sounds like a great way to ensure the ride lives up to its name.
red bull may indeed give you wings, but combine it with vodka and it tells you to ride every uphill on one wheel cause you're a badass unicycle rider. i am going to need some more redbull to make it through today's ride. stupid redbull!
Great time last night, but regrouping spots are a must going forward. I agree with why the destination should remain a mystery, but if your group gets split up (or someone gets lost) its easy to splinter off accidentally if there aren't periodic regrouping stops
I was a first timer and had a blast regardless of the length. Mistah B owned those hills wheelie style. Hope to make the next one and glad I could meet several of you crazy bastages.
blinkys will start amounting to a significant cost over a few miles. think .50-$1 per throwie. pare minimum I would say is one per furlong or so, which means 8 per mile, and that will add up.
Best bet is to know someone else on the ride and grab a phone. I stopped to help someone who crashed (he may have a broken collarbone) and spent a good amount of time on catch-up, but since I knew someone else in the ride, I was able to get updated and take a shortcut to the group.
Did anyone ever think that maybe most of you suck and we want you to get lost and separated from the group?
Did anyone ever think that Full Moon Fiascos are an elaborate scheme to lead a bunch of you far from Turtle Park only to ditch you when the opportunity presents itself?
If you're talking about the accident on Brennon then yes. I'm pretty sure the driver didn't have insurance and that's why he didn't want to call the cops
^^^ a few coments up: Yes, I saw a couple on a tandem bike side swipe a guy's dodge charger or something like that. The car was dented/scraped the whole way down (two doors and rear quarter)...serious damage. Was that the accident on Brennon? It was a straggler group I was in that was semi-seperated from the group. The car driver seemed really upset and kept saying "I can't believe this just happened..."
Be patient young hipsters. The Full Moon Fiasco is too grand to cease to occur. If there isn't any announcement I'd bet that a couple hundred will just show up and continue the tradition.
You understand wrong. Don't bother showing up tomorrow night. The FBC no longer exists. This club is dead. Find something else to do during full moons.
Race this Saturday afternoon in South City! Tune up your bike & charge up your camera phone - you've never raced like this before. Grand prize = $100! http://on.fb.me/PocAQQ
I have a Coleman camper stove I can strap to the back... Hot Flapjacks to trade for beer (silver dollars for domestics, as big as your head for a Guinness)
Whoever crashed into me being a douche in the wrong lane of traffic really hurt me. My shoulder has taken 6 weeks to reattach at the ligaments and I've got nerve damage in my neck. Thanks for running away when it happened.
Party/barbecue/concert in the PPHQ Garage Lodge from 5PM-10PM. Just a 20-minute (give or take?) bike-ride from Turtle Park!
ReplyDeleteSome sort of bike ride?! How will I know what to wear?!
ReplyDeleteaccording to the internet, "PPHQ" is an abbreviation for "pennsylvania partnership for highway quality". sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteI would never question the good people at The Internet, but in STL, PPHQ is shorthand for PANCAKE PRODUCTIONS HEADQUARTERS, Daddy-O!
ReplyDeleteMy friends and I are with JumpinJoey! What should riders wear (or not wear)??? And we've heard that there has been swimming in the past. What gives, Lee? Inquiring minds (and bodies) want to know!
ReplyDeleteIf it stays as balls hot as it has been, I vote unofficial underwear ride.
ReplyDeleteI think this should be the winter coat ride.
ReplyDeleteWinter coat ride with a spicy chili cookoff!!
ReplyDeletePool party of destiny!
ReplyDeleteAdorn yo selves with glowy stuff!!
ReplyDeleteIn honor of our nations birthday, I suggest everyone brings fireworks and we see if we can start a forest fire.
ReplyDeletea truly terrible idea. I suggest the opposite.
ReplyDeleteCity fire?
DeleteUhh, bring ice cubes and freeze a tree?
ReplyDeleteSo would the whole "location of bbq at PPHQ" be a "if you gotta ask..." sort of situation? I wanna burn meat too!
ReplyDeleteCan we wear our fancy little swimming trunks and go POOL HOPPIN!?
ReplyDeleteLeave your fireworks at home.
ReplyDeletesuper soakers!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes!! Pool party of destiny, pretty pretty please! Fountain hopping and nearly nude attire. This is an excellent hot-as-balls summer ride idea.

ReplyDeleteThe Naked Bike Ride: Bros that bike once a year hoping to see boobs.
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting from Seattle and have heard about your group, but need a bike to ride. Does anyone have an extra?
ReplyDeleteCan we start joking about poop again? THeres an appartment complex just east of grand and lindell that has a pool thats pretty easy to get into. Pumpkins rock!
ReplyDeletei have a bike fore you text me. 314.604.1892. im hoping your the woman of my dreams! haha
ReplyDeleteyeah good luck with that one...!
ReplyDeleteWho is the knucklehead that said leave your fireworks at home? Fireworks are encouraged on every FBC ride, and doubly so on the eve of independence day. Now go snort some black powder, or stir it in your favorite cocktail... whatever you gotta do to get your head straight on this thing.
ReplyDeleteI can FINALLY make it! Yay for that! Poop is awesome!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, please don't bring fireworks on the ride. When you bring fireworks, you bring the cops. We don't need that.
ReplyDeletePlease and thank you!
-Lee
I tottaly agree
DeleteCop magnets and party killers.
ReplyDeleteRemember how quick we had to evacuate Crondelet on Cinco De Mayo? Common sense, Buzzkillington
ReplyDeletePoop lives on!!! i love u guys
ReplyDeletepoop.

ReplyDeleteWTF? ^^^
ReplyDeleteBye. You won't be missed.
ReplyDeleteSo is there a theme or not????
ReplyDeleteSo is there a theme or not????
ReplyDeleteThe theme is: RIDE YOUR BIKE AND HAVE FUN.
ReplyDeleteSame as it is every full moon.
ReplyDeleteI'll be wearing my BIRTDAY suit under my clothes!! MUAHAHA

20-30 miles is nothing if you actually know how to ride your bike.
ReplyDeleteNext ride, let's all wear union jack shirts, ride queer hipster bicyles, and run our mouths. We won't have any idea how close we are to getting our asses kicked. Ha.

ReplyDeleteWas anyone else amused by all the crashes last night? I know this is horrible, but it made my night. Ok, I'm done. Have a happy 4th everyone.
ReplyDeleteTo the gentleman with the 23c tube that we put on my buddys mountain bike, thanks a bunch. It held and he made it home. You rock.

ReplyDeleteIt's a Full Moon Fiasco. Dragging a bunch of weak bike riders around the city without rest stops sounds like a great way to ensure the ride lives up to its name.
ReplyDeleteIn the age of future phones, it shouldn't bee too difficult to find your way home.
ReplyDeleteHell, the simplest knowledge of St. Louis streets should be enough to get wherever you need to go.
If either of those options are too difficult for you, stay home.
Posting the destination beforehand allows people to skip the ride and blow up the party spot by crashing the destination.
ReplyDeleteDon't expect to ever hear the destination before the ride.
red bull may indeed give you wings, but combine it with vodka and it tells you to ride every uphill on one wheel cause you're a badass unicycle rider. i am going to need some more redbull to make it through today's ride. stupid redbull!
ReplyDeleteDid the slip and slide ever make it out last night?
ReplyDeleteGreat time last night, but regrouping spots are a must going forward. I agree with why the destination should remain a mystery, but if your group gets split up (or someone gets lost) its easy to splinter off accidentally if there aren't periodic regrouping stops
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the next one!
I saw you guys! It was awsome! I will definitely be on the next ride.
ReplyDeletehow about some cheap blinky light "bread crumbs"?
ReplyDeleteI was a first timer and had a blast regardless of the length. Mistah B owned those hills wheelie style. Hope to make the next one and glad I could meet several of you crazy bastages.

Always have a buddy.
ReplyDeletePreferably multiple buddies.
And a charged phone.
If you don't know anyone on the ride, make some friends. One of them is bound to be with the pack, and can tell you whereabouts everyone is.
It's not like the group moves all that fast, so catching up is certainly doable.
Just follow the trail of beer cans and crashed cyclists.

ReplyDeleteThe FBC is no more.
ReplyDeleteAre we doing a bike ride tomorrow or what?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the dealio?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm already planning on the ride being tomorrow. As it always has been. Night of full moon = FBC ride.
ReplyDeleteThe last ride was the last ride.
ReplyDeleteBe patient young hipsters. The Full Moon Fiasco is too grand to cease to occur. If there isn't any announcement I'd bet that a couple hundred will just show up and continue the tradition.
ReplyDelete"Badges, we don't need no stink in' badges"
From what I understand, Fiasco 100 is the last one...we still have 10 or 11 to go!!
ReplyDeleteYou understand wrong. Don't bother showing up tomorrow night. The FBC no longer exists. This club is dead. Find something else to do during full moons.
ReplyDeleteUntil we hear otherwise. I'm going to ignore the one anonymous kid saying everything is over.
ReplyDeleteWhat time is this not happening? I guess I won't be there by 7.
ReplyDeleteRace this Saturday afternoon in South City! Tune up your bike & charge up your camera phone - you've never raced like this before. Grand prize = $100! http://on.fb.me/PocAQQ
ReplyDeleteDon't expect Lee to be posting anything anytime soon. The blog isn't being updated anymore, and the FBC is no more.
ReplyDeleteLee usually posts updates about the next ride a week or more in advace. There would've been a post days ago if there was a ride tonight.
I've heard rumors that after the shitshow that was last month's ride, Lee's packing it in and the FBC won't be meeting anymore.
ReplyDeleteIt sucks, but I wouldn't be shocked if the rumors are true.
I heard Lee has a really big dong.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be shocked if the rumors are true.
That's not a rumor. That's fact.
ReplyDeleteSo... consensus seems to be that all non-haters are still going to meet at Turtle Park and ride tonight. FBC is too big to just dissolve like that!
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious ^=^
ReplyDeleteSee y'all non haters tonight!
So is the ride at 7p since it's a week night or 11p?
ReplyDeleteI think it's always at 11p unless its Prom or something special.
ReplyDelete7PM!
ReplyDeleteI have seen Lee's big dong.
ReplyDeleteIt is confirmed. No rumour.
I'm going with 11PM...
ReplyDeletei am going with big dong.
ReplyDeleteOkay good, I won't be there by 11. :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for the shit show? Wtf happened? I had a great time.
Turtle Park on the Riverfront Trail, right?
ReplyDelete7pm at the downtown Turtle Park.
ReplyDelete11pm at Turtle park :)
ReplyDeletefbc is my religion
11 p.m. except for Prom/Flag Day.
ReplyDelete8:45
ReplyDeletepancake ride everyone bring the pancakes
ReplyDeleteWaffles are better. Waffle Ride!
ReplyDeleteSee everyone at 11 then
ReplyDeletei was gonna go but my little sister won't let me wear her jeans anymore so i can't.
ReplyDeleteJust buy a mini skirt
DeleteI have a Coleman camper stove I can strap to the back... Hot Flapjacks to trade for beer (silver dollars for domestics, as big as your head for a Guinness)
ReplyDeleteNo one's at Turtle Park yet, so plan on 11
Whoever crashed into me being a douche in the wrong lane of traffic really hurt me. My shoulder has taken 6 weeks to reattach at the ligaments and I've got nerve damage in my neck. Thanks for running away when it happened.
