Superlate Superhappy Funtime Alley Cat Recap.

Its been over a week now since the Superhappy Funtime Alley Cat Race took place, but I remember it like it was yesterday. The tension in the air, the clank of a single die on an outdoor table top and the finely tuned athletes of the FBC zig-zagging across South City like so many dizzy lightning bolts.

Jeff and Jake put on this race like a couple of seasoned professionals from some hip city that has two alley cat races every weekend. The production value was high and shit was organized. There were even little Superhappy Funtime Alley Cat Race buttons and a free keg of beer for participants and spectators alike.

Success in this particular race had a lot to do with luck, not just blinding speed on a two-wheeler. Before the race each rider was given a map which showed the six checkpoints they would have to visit. The order in which you visited the checkpoints depended on the rolling of dice. Your roll at the registration table determined where you were headed first. Then every time you arrived at a check point you rolled again to determine where you went next. If you got to a check point and failed, three times, to roll a checkpoint that you had not yet been to, then you had to do a challenge before you could move on. Challenges included: sinking a washer, spelling a difficult bicycle related word, solving a puzzle and running through playground equipment.

When it was all said and done Seth and Rose came home victorious with bags of goodies, and added their names to the FBC history books.

Thanks so much to Jeff and Jake and everyone involved for putting on a totally righteous event.

HOT LAPS WAS AMAZING...

randy won, 8.5 second beer on his final lap, beat linden (who found the magic beer for the bonus lap) by 10 seconds, so close, so fun.
the wonder-filled afternoon was marred by tragic accedents however, hobo zach crashed pretty good and messed up his face, if you know him you should call or stop by and bring him some soup or something.
super fun, we should make this a monthly event.

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!

This Sunday, September 9th is your chance to prove once and for all that you don't have to wear spandex and shave your legs to be a bike racer. Registration begins at 4:00pm in Tower Grove Park just east of Center Cut Drive. The race starts at 5:00pm.

This race has been lovingly designed by Jeff and Steven and promises plenty of good, clean, sweaty fun. Word on the street is that lady luck may be a factor. Its also Cole's birthday, so don't be afraid to buy me a beer.

See you Sunday.
